A man faces charges after allegedly being caught at a Louisiana motel with a teenager, one who lived 1,000 miles away.
On July 14, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana announced the arrest of Wilder Garcia, 23.
Two days earlier, deputies responded to a motel to help find a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing from Fairfax County, Virginia, according to the sheriff’s office. The girl went missing on July 8 but had told her mother she was OK and with Garcia.
Investigators tracked her cell phone to the motel in Raceland, Louisiana.
There, deputies found Garcia and the teen. The two had communicated over Facebook messenger before leaving Virginia together, according to the sheriff’s office.
Garcia also allegedly had sex with the teen at the Louisiana motel.
He was charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being held in jail on $151,000 bond.
