A mom threw her toddler child off a bridge and into the water below, but police said they don’t know why.
Around 4:50 p.m. on Sept. 23, police in Houma, Louisiana, responded to the Liberty Street Bridge after a child was thrown into the Bayou Terrebonne.
The 18-month-old child was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover, police said.
Investigators said the child’s mom threw the victim from the bridge for unknown reasons. There is no known motive in the case, police said.
The mom was identified as Asha Randolph, 30, went into the water and pulled out the child after tossing them, according to police.
Two other children, aged 8 and 6 years old, were also left at home unsupervised, police said.
Randolph was charged with attempted first-degree murder, child desertion and obstruction of justice.
