Florida Man Hacked His New 75-Year-Old Roommate To Death With Machete, Authorities Say
A man in Florida fatally attacked his elderly roommate with a machete and then later admitted what he did to a stranger, authorities said.
On June 27, a person called 911 and claimed Juan Ortiz, 37, told them he had killed Juan Nunez, the 75-year-old man he lived with in Cocoa, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said, WKMG-TV reported.
When investigators went to Nunez’s home, which Ortiz just had moved into the previous day, they found Ortiz allegedly attempting to hide the elderly murder victim’s body in the backyard, the sheriff’s office said.
According to authorities, Nunez had suffered multiple wounds from the machete.

Ortiz faces charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, and he was being held without bond at the Brevard County jail.
Investigators have not released a motive in the case.
