A Moss Beach, California, man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a girl who he gave a ride home in October 2020.
Police say they are looking at whether there are other possible victims who faced similar attacks.
The suspect has been identified as Rosendo Hernandez Arroyo, 20.
The victim asked Arroyo for a ride home, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Before taking the victim home, Arroyo brought her to a park and forcibly raped her, police allege.
Authorities say Arroyo and the victim, who is under the age of 14, were acquainted through a mutual friend.
On Wednesday, detectives arrested Arroyo without incident at his work. Arroyo was charged with rape by force or fear and forcible lewd acts with a child under 14.
It is believed that Arroyo has committed these crimes before and has other victims, according to the sheriff's office.
Anyone who has information about the suspect or who was a victim is strongly encouraged to contact Detective Carryn Barker at (650) 363-4050 or email cbarker@smcgov.org.
