Elderly Florida Man Accused of Assaulting His Wife of 55 Years — All Because She Wouldn’t Let Him Drive

Authorities in Florida say an elderly man has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted his wife of some 55 years because she refused to let him drive their car.
Around 2:45 p.m. on April 12, officers responded to a home in Largo for a “domestic related” incident, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime.
Once inside the home, an officer said the living room had “things tossed around as if from a struggle,” according to the affidavit.
Officials said the victim, 78-year-old Annie Davis, had a cut on her nose and her left eye, as well as a “contusion to the back right of her head that was visibly red.”
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation.
She told police that this had started because her husband, 78-year-old Walter Lee Davis, wanted to drive their vehicle and she didn’t let him because he wasn’t supposed to drive.

Davis refused to talk with police, but they said physical evidence tied him to the violence. Officials said he had dried blood on his left leg, but didn’t sustain any injuries himself.
He was arrested and charged with one count of battery on a person over the age of 65, court records show.
Davis was booked into the Pinellas County Jail and was released on April 13 on a $2,500 bond, officials said. He was ordered to not have any direct or indirect contact with his wife.
