A Florida man has been arrested after a witness saw him and a bloodied woman screaming for help in al parking lot, according to authorities.
According to the West Palm Beach Police Department, officers spotted 40-year-old Leon Kentrail Daniels in the parking lot of the hotel next to a four-door Toyota on Aug. 13.
Police tried to talk with Daniels, but officers said he allegedly defied their orders, jumped into the car, drove directly at two officers and then crashed into a tree, causing $30,000 of damage to a water mainline in the process, WPEC reported.
Officials said Daniels side-swiped another Toyota and hit a semi-tractor trailer before narrowly running over the two WPBPD officers.
Daniels was allegedly driving about 35 mph when he drove directly at one officer, missing him and then driving at the next. Both officers avoided being hit, but one of the officers had injuries from the incident, according to WPEC.
Authorities said Daniels drove out of the parking lot and officers readied for a car chase, but before they could get back into their patrol car they heard a loud crash.
Daniels was found unresponsive, slumped across the passenger seat and floorboard, bleeding from his head, officials said.
Officers went to investigate and found the suspect had driven into the bushes along the roadway, downing an oak tree along the way, WPEC reported.
Police the attempted to speak with the reportedly bloodied woman who was seen with Daniels at the hotel, but she refused to participate in any part of the investigation, WPEC reported.
