Three years after woman found dead in a Houston apartment, her alleged killer is arrested

A man has been arrested three years after he allegedly shot and killed the woman he was dating.
Around 7 p.m.Aug. 21, 2018., a Houston Police officer working security at the Linda Vista apartments at 5500 De Soto Street was requested by management to conduct a welfare check on a tenant in the apartment.
When the officer entered the apartment, they found Cassie Washington, 34, lying on the living room floor deceased.

Washington had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to Houston police.
An investigation determined Washington was last seen in the early morning hours of Aug. 18 and a missing person report was filed on Aug. 20.
Damarion Gulley, 44, who was dating Washington, was identified as a suspect in the case.
Gulley was taken into custody on Aug. 2, 2021, and subsequently charged for his role in Washington’s death. Investigators did not detail why it took three years to make the arrest in the case.
