A Colorado man was arrested after he allegedly stole a tip jar at a business and was caught in a stolen vehicle fleeing the scene.

Last month, the Harvard, Illinois Police Department responded to Cakes by Bella, located at 19 North Ayer Street in Harvard, Illinois, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported.

Officers learned that a suspect took the tip jar that contained cash and fled the area, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.

The tip jar contained $3.45, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported.

Officers located Jerome C. Pinkus, 62, as he was driving and arrested him, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.

Officers learned the 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan he was driving had previously been reported stolen in Libertyville, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported.

Pinkus was charged with theft and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.

Pinkus was transported to the McHenry County Jail, where he was released after posting $10,000 bond, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported.
