A Detroit man was arguing with his girlfriend in a casino's parking garage, but it turned deadly when a second man opened fire, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
Kermit McCants, 25, and his girlfriend were arguing in the parking ramp at MotorCity Casino when Nicholas White, 27, came up and intervened, according to authorities.
From there, White and McCants got into an argument that quickly escalated, police said.
That is when White pulled out a gun and shot McCants, authorities said.
Detroit police were called to the second level of the MotorCity Casino at 1:48 a.m. on March 21, authorities said. Once they arrived, officers found McCants was shot multiple times, police said.
Authorities said McCants was taken to a nearby hospital by medical officials. Once there, he was pronounced dead, police said.
After the shooting, police said White fled from the scene in his car. An investigation by police led to White’s arrest on March 22.
White was charged with first-degree murder and felony firearm charges, authorities said. He was arraigned in court on March 25 and has his preliminary examination scheduled for April 13, according to authorities.
