Arizona Man Flags Down Sheriff’s Deputy, Admits He Committed Murder, Officials Say
An Arizona man was placed under arrest after he flagged down a law enforcement officer and allegedly admitted he had killed a person, authorities said.
Around 1 a.m. on Sept. 8, a deputy with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office spotted Albert Stevens, 52, in the middle of the road near McNeal, KSAZ-TV reported.
According to officials, when the deputy asked Stevens if he was okay, he allegedly responded that he had fatally shot someone.
Stevens then led deputies to a home, where they found the body of the victim, a 61-year-old man whose identity has not been released.
The suspect was placed under arrest and faces a first-degree murder charge.
Officials have not disclosed what led up to the shooting.
