A 20-year-old Alabama man was found shot to death in an apartment and police say a manhunt helped track down the suspect, who has now been charged with capital murder.
On Dec. 24, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama said they received a call about a possible deceased person at a residence.
According to authorities, officers went into the residence and found the body of Gavin Ryan Hargrove, 20.
Police said the residence belonged to 21-year-old Timothy Dakota McCary and police started to search for him.
Officials said they received several tips regarding the whereabouts of McCary and they worked tirelessly on Christmas Day to find him.
Around 6 p.m. on Dec. 25, McCary was spotted in the Langtown community near County Road 214, police said.
Police were trying to find him in the area around County Road 501, but then a citizen spotted him about a mile away on County Road 240 around 9:30 p.m.
McCary tried to run from police, but he was quickly apprehended, officials said.
He was arrested and booked into the Lawrence County Jail on capital murder charges, police said.
It is not known what prompted McCary to shoot Hargrove, officials said.
