A Florida man was killed in a shootout with police after he allegedly went on a shooting spree that left three women dead, according to police.
Around 9 p.m. on June 24, Javontee Brice, 29, went to the Palmetto Trace apartments, in Manatee County, where his sister and his ex-girlfriend were located, according to police reports obtained by WTVT.
Brice was reportedly planning on shooting his ex-girlfriend, but left without targeting anyone after his sister convinced him not to, police said.
Around 9:15 p.m., however, Brice went to the Motel 6 in Bradenton and fatally shot his mother, Titimysha Scott, officials said.
Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells told WTVT that Brice walked into the motel room, told his 48-year-old mother, “I’m sorry,” to which she responded, “What did you do?”
He then, the sheriff said, shot and killed her.
Around 9:40 p.m., Brice went to a location in Palmetto where one of his cousins, 29-year-old Sacouya Brice, had been at a cookout. He gunned her down as she sat in a parked SUV, police said.
His cousin died an hour later. Officials said witnesses at both shootings reportedly identified Brice as the gunman.
While police were investigating the two shootings, they learned of a third shooting in Bradenton. In that incident, Brice allegedly went to a home where his ex-girlfriend was living with her new female partner. Authorities say Brice fatally shot his ex’s partner and then fled the scene.
Investigators learned that Brice was reportedly headed to Georgia to kill another ex-girlfriend, so they issued a statewide BOLO for his vehicle.
Around 1:30 a.m. on June 25, Hamilton County police stopped his car near the Florida-Georgia line. Brice got out of his vehicle and started firing at deputies. They returned fire, shooting and killing him, according to police. No police officers were injured.
Authorities said Brice was traveling with a woman who was in the car at the time of the shootout.

While allegedly carrying out the shootings, Brice went on Facebook. In one post he said, “I love you bae Coyaa Brice see you in hell,” and another said, “Pig I love you but you had to go.”
Sheriff Wells told WTVT, “He seemed to have an agenda. He knew exactly who he wanted to kill, and he did not have a hard time locating them.”
Officials have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
