Florida man fearing for his family’s safety after shooting allegedly chases down, fatally strikes triggerman with car
A Florida man is charged with first-degree murder after authorities said he chased a person who fired shots in his neighborhood and mowed him down with his car.
Around 11:15 a.m. July 24, Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deuties responded to reports of shots fired.
When they arrived on scene, they discovered a man dead and a car crashed into a home.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said in a statement Brandon Cowins, 25, feared for his family’s safety, so he allegedly jumped behind the wheel of his vehicle and chased the man he suspected responsible for the gunfire.
After several blocks, Cowins “struck the deceased intentionally with his vehicle, then lost control and hit a residence,” Barbera said, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
No one in the home was injured in the incident.
Cowins was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and is being held without bond. Officials have not released the name of the victim.
