Man Who Served 11 Years in Prison for Manslaughter Now Faces Murder Charge in New Jersey After Ex-Girlfriend Found Dead: Officials

A New Jersey man has been charged in connection with the murder of his ex-girlfriend who was reported missing on Mother’s Day, according to authorities.
On May 14, the Jersey City Police Department received a missing person report for 32-year-old Norelis Mendoza, who was last seen in Jersey City the previous day, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said.
On May 17, investigators found the lifeless body of a female, later identified as Mendoza, near a highway in Bayonne, near the Jersey City border, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office recently announced that 35-year-old Gregory Mallard has been charged with the woman's death.
Mallard was charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, failing to dispose of human remains in a manner prescribed by law, desecration of human remains, hindering and tampering with physical evidence, authorities said.
Officials said the death of Mendoza was an act of domestic violence and Mallard is her ex-boyfriend.

According to NJ.com, Mallard is the father of Mendoza’s two children, ages 1 and 3. Mallard was released from prison in June 2020, after serving 11 years on an aggravated manslaughter charge.
Officials claim he is an alleged member of the 52 Hoover Street Crips gang.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
