72-year-old man shot and killed in his backyard in Jacksonville, suspect arrested

A 72-year-old man was shot in his Florida backyard on Oct. 23, and he later died from his injuries.
Keith Cooper, 32, has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting, according to First Coast News.
Police responded to the 2000 block of West 14th Street in Jacksonville, Florida, in reference to a reported shooting, First Coast News reported.
When police arrived, they found a man in the backyard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, according to First Coast News.
The unidentified victim later died, First Coast News reported.
Witnesses told police they saw a man wearing a hoodie run from the area after they heard gunshots, and he possibly got into a black or brown vehicle and fled from the scene, according to First Coast News. Jacksonville authorities identified the suspect as Cooper, First Coast News reported.
Police have not revealed a suspected motive for the shooting.
One neighbor told First Coast News that the elderly man “had a real good heart” and “he was a good man.”
