Prosecutors say a Michigan man has been arrested after he stabbed his pregnant girlfriend, causing the death of his girlfriend and her unborn child.
On March 24, Damarion Goler, 31, allegedly stabbed 31-year-old Talic Mersina near the door of their Sterling Heights home, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police were initially called to the home around 3 a.m., where they observed blood, but nobody was home at the time, police reports obtained by WJBK-TV state.
Shortly after, Clinton Township Police received a report of a blood-covered man about 10 miles away, reports state.
Officers were able to locate Goler and Mersina in the victim’s vehicle in a parking lot outside the Goler’s mother’s home, authorities said.
Mersina was transported to the hospital, where she died from her wounds, officials said. The victim’s unborn child also died.
Goler was arrested and faces charges of second-degree murder, assault of a pregnant individual - intentionally causing miscarriage, tampering with evidence, and concealing the death of an individual.
On March 27, Goler appeared in court for his arraignment and he was remanded to the Macomb County jail, where he was being held without bond.
