Police in Tennessee allege a man stabbed and set his wife on fire during an argument and then admitted to cops when they arrived on the scene.
Around 4:30 p.m. on July 1, officers and firefighters were sent to a home in Dickson regarding reports of a stabbing and structure fire, according to court documents obtained by WKRN.
At the scene, first responders found heavy smoke coming from the home and a woman, who appeared to have multiple stab wounds to her chest and upper back, lying near the back door, authorities said.
Investigators noted the woman still had a knife stuck inside her when she was located.
Zachary Mowel, 28, approached one of the officers and allegedly admitted, “I did it. It was me,” law enforcement officials claimed.
Investigators determined Mowel allegedly attacked his wife, stabbing her multiple times before dousing her with gasoline and setting the home on fire.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of severe burns and multiple stab wounds. She remains hospitalized, court documents show.
Mowel was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault (domestic-related), and domestic assault, officials said.
He was booked into the Dickson County Jail and was being held on a $765,000 bond.
