U.S. Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune accused of shooting roommate in the neck
A U.S. Marine is accused of shooting his roommate in the neck, according to police in Florida.
On Dec. 6, members of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hubert, Florida, for a reported shooting. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the neck, according to the sheriff’s office.
They also found another man with cuts to his arm.
Witness said Donnie Lamar Leake shot the victim in the neck during an argument, according to the sheriff’s office.
Leake and the victim are both in the U.S. Marine Corps, roommates and stationed at Camp Lejeune. Police said Leake got cuts on his arm while he tried to get into his locked vehicle.
Deputies noted that alcohol played a factor in the incident but did not release what led to the argument.
Leake was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting a serious injury. He is currently being held in the Onslow County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
