Two men, including a U.S. marine, are facing a murder charge after a fight outside a bar led to a shooting, police said.
On Feb. 19, police said Damani Jerry Wiltshirebeal, 22, Samuel Victor Perez, 23, and 37-year-old Kyle Delangel got into an argument at the Off Base Bar in San Diego as the bar was closing.
Wiltshirebeal is a Marine with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing stationed at MCAS Miramar and has been active duty since Aug. 2017, NBC San Diego reported.
Wiltshirebeal and Perez were leaving in a black Chevrolet when Delangel was hit by their vehicle, police said.
Delangel then approached the vehicle’s driver’s side, when he was shot and the vehicle took off. He was taken to the Scripps La Jolla hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but later died, authorities said.
A GoFundMe was started for funeral expenses for Delangel, which said Kyle was a father of three. He was the "life of the party" and made everyone smile and laugh.
"He was a light to everyone he knew," the page read.
Both suspects were arrested at their residences on Feb. 19, police said. Wiltshirebeal and Perez were charged with first-degree murder and booked into the San Diego Central Jail, police said.
