Maryland man accused of luring victim to his death, stabbing him multiple times

A man is accused of luring, then stabbing another person to death and now faces a murder charge.

Around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 3, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland responded to a home in Great Mills for a well-being check of a man lying on the ground.

Investigators arrived on the scene and found the victim, who was pronounced declared dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives and crime lab employees responded to the scene and continued the investigation. The victim was identified as Jermell Delontae Jones, 33.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cherron Montril Waul, 44, in connection to the case. He was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, armed robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.

Authorities said Waul lured Jones to meet with him outside of the Indian Bridge Apartments complex when a fight happened. Jones was stabbed repeatedly and subsequently died, according to the sheriff's office.

Waul remains incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, Maryland.
