A Massachusetts man was shot in the head and killed while driving his vehicle, and now police say the alleged suspect has been arrested and charged with his murder.
Around 7 p.m. on Nov. 3, Brockton police were called for a report of shots fired and a person had been shot, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said
At the scene, officials said they found a Honda Civic crashed into a utility pole. Inside the vehicle, officers found the driver suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities said the victim was later identified as 28-year-old Nelito Lopes. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, but then was flown by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Officials determined 24-year-old Asa St. Louis was the suspect and Massachusetts State Police detectives, Brockton police, Boston police and the state police violent fugitive apprehension section worked together to locate St. Louis and arrest him.
On Nov. 7, St. Louis was found in Boston and arrested without incident after a murder arrest warrant was issued for him on Nov. 6, police said.
Investigators have not said if the two men knew each other or what led to the shooting.
