Memphis Cops Say Suspect Allegedly Admitting He Killed Woman During Knife Fight — ‘I Assassinated Her’
A Tennessee man killed a woman in an apartment and then allegedly admitted to the crime while officers were helping the injured suspect, police said.
Memphis police responded to a residence in connection with a stabbing and found Johnathan Poulino-Martinez, 28, suffering a neck wound, WREG reported.
While officers were treating Poulino-Martinez’s wound, police claimed he allegedly said: “I assassinated her.”
He then indicated a nearby apartment, where officers found the door ajar, according to WREG.
Inside the residence, police reportedly noted multiple blood-covered kitchen knives and signs of a struggle. They followed a blood trail to a bedroom, where the victim, identified as Keiry Brito-Mella, was located unresponsive.
WREG reported Brito-Mella suffered multiple cuts, including too her head, neck and back. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Poulino-Martinez was transported to an area hospital and booked three days later into the Shelby County jail.
He currently faces a first-degree murder charge.
