Miami woman drowned toddler because 'Jesus Christ is coming,' police say

A woman faces murder charges after she allegedly drowned her 15-month-old daughter in a bathtub, then stabbed her husband and teen daughter.

Precious Bland, 38, is charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse, Miami-Dade Police officials told NBC 6.

According to the arrest report obtained by NBC 6, one of the victims said Bland became upset and started “stating that Jesus Christ is coming and Covid is going to kill us all.”

Bland then insisted that everyone needed to be baptized and said she was going to baptize everyone in the bathtub, according to NBC 6.

Bland started holding the 15-month-old under water in the tub until she became unresponsive, NBC 6 reported.

According to the report, Bland’s husband tried to stop her and a struggle ensued, according to NBC 6.

Bland got hold of the knife and stabbed her husband several times, NBC 6 reported.

Her husband grabbed four of his children and fled the home, but Bland allegedly stabbed her 16-year-old daughter in the forearm before she could leave, according to NBC 6.

When officers arrived, they found the toddler unresponsive in the bathtub, NBC 6 reported. She was rushed to Jackson North Medical Center in Miami, where she was pronounced dead.

Bland’s husband and teen daughter were also hospitalized and treated for their wounds before being released, NBC 6 reported.

Bland was hospitalized with apparent self-inflicted wounds to her wrists, according to NBC 6.

Four other children under age 11 were also in the home at the time but were unharmed, NBC 6 reported.
