A Michigan man has been arrested after he was allegedly found passed out in his car with his dead girlfriend in the passenger seat, according to authorities.

On Nov. 13, Martin Yost, 42, allegedly beat his girlfriend to death, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

The 45-year-old victim, whose name was not released, suffered severe trauma to her head and face, WDIV-TV reported.

Investigators determined Yost allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in Detroit, placed her in his car and then drove to Roseville, where they were found, according to WDIV-TV.

Officials said Yost was covered in blood when police found him inside the car.

On Nov. 16, Yost was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend, authorities said.

He was booked into the Macomb County Jail and is being held without bond. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family and is scheduled to appear for his probable cause hearing on Nov. 29.

If convicted, Yost faces life in prison.

In a statement, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said, "This is a stark and tragic illustration of the severity of domestic violence. Such crimes are deeply serious, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is served."
