A woman in Michigan has been charged with torture after she allegedly abused her boyfriend’s elderly mother while he was away on vacation, according to authorities.
On June 21, the boyfriend of 40-year-old Laura Tisdelle came home after a five-day trip and found his 80-year-old mother with “her hands tied together, restrained to the bed, severely beaten and laying in her own urine and feces,” according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.
The elderly victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her critical injuries, officials said.
According to authorities, Tisdelle was determined to be the victim’s sole caregiver in her Sterling Heights home at the time.
On Dec. 28, prosecutors announced Tisdelle was formally charged with torture, first-degree vulnerable adult abuse, unlawful imprisonment, and domestic violence.
Tisdelle is scheduled to next appear in court on Jan. 8, 2024.
