Mischa Barton Once Had The World At The Tip Of Her Fingers. A Celebrity Mugshot And Other Incidents Ended It.

Mischa Barton made a name for herself playing bad-girl Marissa Cooper on "The O.C." However, her bad-girl ways in real life began an epic fall from grace.
Barton had the world at her fingertips in the mid-2000s. She was on top of the world while starring on "The. O.C." and everyone seemingly wanted a piece of her.
Then she decided to quit the show, and everything was downhill from there.
Perhaps the first big sign of a fall from grace was when she became infamous for a celebrity mugshot after being pulled over and charged with driving under the influence in 2007.
According to People, Barton was pulled over at 2:46 a.m. on Nov. 27, 2007, when her vehicle was straddling two lanes and she didn't use a turn signal when making a turn, a police statement detailed at the time.
“During Ms. Barton’s detention, it was determined that she was an unlicensed driver and was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage,” the police statement noted, according to People. “Ms. Barton was arrested and transported to West Hollywood Sheriff’s station where the booking process was completed without incident.”

People reported that police initially said Barton had been arrested for possession of illegal narcotics, though further details from that were not released.
"Obviously, I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions in this case, and I'm really disappointed in myself," Barton told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show soon after her arrest, according to E! News. "I don't know what to say about it except I'm not perfect. I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again."

"That was a low point for me. I never, ever would have thought I would be arrested," Barton also told Nylon magazine, according to E! News. "I was disappointed because it associated me with a group of girls that I would rather not be associated with. That was the biggest bummer for me—I didn't leave my house. I was too embarrassed. They made such a big deal out of it with these other young actresses, that, for a little bit, I wanted to crawl into a hole and die."
That was part of the beginning of a spiral that has stalled Barton's career.
According to E! News, in July 2009 Barton was put into a psych ward. A source told the outlet that it was because of "suicidal" actions. Other incidents happened, such as a professional photo with beef that angered PETA, rumors of a sex tape being released, a lawsuit against his mom, a failed "Dancing With the Stars" performance and then another trip to the hospital in 2017 when she says she was given the date rape drug that put her on a "complete hallucination."
