A 38-year-old Illinois man went missing in July and police say his body has been found in Kentucky. Now, an Illinois man has been charged with his murder.
On July 15, police said 38-year-old Zachary C. Campbell disappeared from New Burnside. Illinois.
According to Kentucky State Police, investigators believe Tyler Childers shot Campbell and then dumped his body somewhere off of the Trail of Tears route.
Multiple search attempts took place, but investigators said they found Campbell’s body on July 29 near Columbus, Kentucky.
Officers have not said what led Childers to allegedly kill Campbell or if the two men knew each other.
An autopsy was performed on Campbell’s body and investigators said it showed he died of a gunshot wound.
Childers was already in jail in Massac County, Illinois, on separate charges, but he has now been charged with murder in connection to the death of Campbell, WPSD reported.
