Officials in South Carolina said they are looking into claims that a missing woman was last seen with a man who looked like Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect Rex Heuermann.
Julia Ann Bean, 36, was last heard from in May 2017, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Her daughter reportedly said that Heuermann was the last person she saw with her mother before she disappeared, according to WPIX.
Heuermann, 59, has been charged with the murders of three of the so-called Gilgo 4 — the women found dead on Long Island’s Gilgo Beach in December 2010 — and he is also the prime suspect in the death of the fourth, as Front Page Detectives previously reported.
Officials in Las Vegas, where Heuermann owned a timeshare, are investigating five unsolved murders that could be linked to Heuermann. He also owns property in Chester County, South Carolina, which is about 100 miles north of Sumter County.
Sumter County Investigator Scott Bonner confirmed with WPIX that they have been given information about Bean’s disappearance and would be looking into it on their end.
Heidi Kovas, a friend of Bean, shared with investigators text messages allegedly from Bean’s daughter that state she had recognized Heuermann "right away."

“She said that was the last person she ever saw with her mom," Kovas said.
The daughter allegedly told Kovas that Heuermann drove her mother to a nail salon in Sumter County and that he used a different name, according to WPIX. He told the then-teen that he owned lake houses and boats and she could use them for parties. He also allegedly told the daughter that he wanted to marry her mom, who reportedly struggled with drug addiction.

Kovas told WPIX, “Her daughter had mentioned multiple, different men giving her mom money. I mean there’s no doubt that she was more than likely escorting. She was a beautiful girl, she IS a beautiful girl.”
Kovas said Bean looks like the other victims attributed to Heuermann and claimed she left behind her purse and drugs the day she disappeared.
