A 13-year-old missing Texas girl was found locked in a shed in North Carolina after grooming the girl and enticing her to leave her home, authorities said.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were contacted by a special agent with the Texas FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force on March 10 regarding a missing girl from Dallas believed to be with an adult from Lexington, North Carolina, later identified as 34-year-old Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho.
Shortly after the call with the FBI, deputies surveilled the home where Camacho was staying in Lexington.
Officers pulled Camacho over as he left the house and found the girl locked in a shed outside the property, police said.
The property owner told deputies Camacho did not live in the main house on the property and she wasn’t aware he had anyone else staying with him, according to authorities.
Davidson County Sheriff Richie Simmons said investigators determined the girl was talking with an adult person on an unspecified social media site and the communication was consistent with grooming and enticement.
Simmons claimed that Camacho encouraged and convinced the girl to leave her home.
The girl was last seen in Dallas on March 1 and video cameras near her residence showed a vehicle around that time registered to an address in Davidson County, North Carolina, officials said.
After her rescue, the girl, who appeared to be uninjured, was taken to the hospital for evaluation before being reunited with her family in Dallas, authorities said.

Camacho was arrested and faces a number of charges, including felonies for child abduction, felonious restraint of a child, human trafficking, rape of a person under 15, and indecent liberties with a child.
He is being held on bonds totaling $1.25 million. If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole, officials said.
The investigation is ongoing and Camacho could face additional charges, police said.
