A club owner is accused of shooting a pregnant woman and killing her unborn baby, according to reports.
Last week, authorities arrested Carl Powell, 45, on a capital murder charge.
He is accused of shooting Terri Evans during a dispute at the Club Plush in Jackson, Mississippi, on Nov. 12, according to WLBT.
Evans was eight weeks pregnant at the time of the shooting and lost her baby as a result, according to reports.
Powell was the club’s owner and was involved in a dispute outside of the club, which led to the shooting, according to WAPT. There was no word about what the dispute was over.
Powell was arrested moments after the shooting and charged with aggravated assault. But now those charges have been upgraded.
"It's really scary for me," Evans told WAPT. "I'm praying and praying that I actually get the justice and my unborn child gets the justice."
