A Mississippi man was killed and another man was arrested after police say an argument over Bible verses led to a strangulation death.
On July 7, an argument between 32-year-old Sherrod Alexander Laffitte and 41-year-old Samuel McDougle over Bible verses broke out in the home of Laffitte, officials said.
The argument led to a fight between Laffitte and McDougle and police say it ended in the strangulation death of Laffitte. Laffitte was pronounced dead at his Wane County, Mississippi, home, officials said.
His body was sent to Jackson, Mississippi for an autopsy and the results confirmed he died of strangulation, WDAM reported.
McDougle surrendered to police later that night on July 7, police said.
He now faces a second-degree murder charge and his bond was set for $1 million, officials said.
Authorities said they continue to investigate the homicide.
