Mississippi teen already facing murder charge arrested for second slaying, police say

A Mississippi teen charged with murder has now been charged in a second slaying, police say.
On March 16, police say Chase Debore Green, 20, was found sitting inside a vehicle and was pronounced dead around 1:30 a.m.
Officials have not released a motive for the slaying. A teenager already in custody in connection to a 2020 shooting has been charged with capital murder because the victim was inside a vehicle at the time of his death, police said.
Because of his age, the teen's name was not being released, police said.
Lt. Christian Clemons told The Brimingham News, “It is difficult and hurtful to see a juvenile committing these violent acts. We have made arrests of juveniles committing violent acts before, but it is extremely rare to have two charges of murder for separate acts.”
The teen was arrested in April for the 2020 shooting death of 45-year-old Michael Jones, Birmingham News reported. Jones vanished on May 20, 2020, after leaving work and his body was discovered two days later inside a vacant home, police said.
According to his family, Jones was supposed to return to work the next day, but did not show up or call and they began searching for him.
The family tracked down his phone and discovered he had arranged to meet with someone from the Letgo trading app to buy an iPhone, officials said.
The family believes Jones was lured to his death, police said.
Two days after his disappearance, police found the victim's vehicle and after more searching, they discovered his body several hours later, authorities said. Police said Jones was shot to death.
The teen, now facing charges in connection to both murders, is being held at a juvenile detention facility. If he is charged as an adult, his name will be released, officials said.
