Man says he shot and killed his roommate who lunged at him. Experts say the victim was shot in the back.
A Missouri man claimed his roommate lunged at him, but prosecutors say the victim was shot in the back and it’s a case of murder.
Now, the suspect, Robert E. Matlock, 43, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
On June 16, Matlock called Raytown, Missouri, police and said he shot his roommate after the victim lunged at him. Officers went to the home and found the victim, Ramiro Jaramillo, with multiple gunshot wounds, according to prosecutors.
Matlock told the officers he fired after Jaramillo moved towards him, prosecutors noted. The suspect also showed the authorities a cell phone video that showed him shooting the victim.
But, the medical examiner found the victim had several gunshot wounds with some on his back or side, according to prosecutors.
As a result, Matlock was arrested and charged. Prosecutors asked for a $250,000 bond as Matlock is being held in jail on the charges.
