Mom drowns son, daughter because she couldn’t ‘walk off this earth and leave my precious children behind’
A mother in Nevada is facing two murder charges after she drowned her 1-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy in separate bathtubs before attempting to kill herself, police said.
On July 19, the children’s father, Christopher Fox, discovered the bodies of his daughter, Gihanna Fox, and son, Christopher Fox Jr., at the Henderson home of their mother — his former girlfriend — Jovan Paris Trevino, 33, KTVN reported, citing an arrest report.
Investigators went through Trevino’s unlocked phone and found what police described as a suicide note that allegedly stated she could not “walk off this earth and leave my precious children behind,” according to the station.
Other potential evidence allegedly recovered at the scene included a knife with what appeared to be blood on it.
While detectives combed through the crime scene, Henderson police received a call that Trevino allegedly went to emergency room staff at Western Regional Arizona Medical Center in Bullhead City, Arizona, and told them she murdered her two young children.
Boulder City police detained Trevino at the hospital on July 20, one day after the murders.
Once in custody, the suspect allegedly told investigators she decided to end her life on July 18 but was unsure if she should kill her own children. The following day, Trevino allegedly said, she realized her kids could not live without her so she drank three beers, a shot of tequila, Theraflu and Allegra and then took the lives of her son and daughter by drowning them in separate bathtubs.

Trevino reportedly tried to complete suicide by slitting her wrist and throat, but when that didn’t work, she told police she believed “she could park and overheat in the car causing her death or possibly drive head-on into another vehicle causing a collision that would kill her,” documents said, according to KLAS-TV.
She instead went to the emergency room and allegedly confessed to the crimes against her children.
Trevino now faces two charges of murder and is expected to be extradited back to Nevada from Arizona.
KLAS-TV reported Trevino worked full-time as a family services assistant with the Department of Family Services. The agency is tasked with helping families and keeping children safe from abuse.
“Christopher and Gihanna were our lovely kids and just made our days better by just looking at them smile,” Christopher Fox, the children’s father, wrote on a GoFundMe page created to help pay for funeral expenses.
“Christopher was an amazing kid with a big heart and knew what to do to make you have a better day Christopher just loved to be around people and was a social kid,” the grieving father noted. “Gihanna was our dancer and sassy child she loves music and dancing she would walk up to us and gives us a big hug when we came home from work.”
He added: “Our kids had so much life ahead of them and we wanted to see them prosper in whatever they wanted to do in life. They will be truly missed as our hearts are hurting right now."
