A Georgia man has been sentenced in connection with the fatal stabbing of a pregnant woman in Georgia, authorities said.
Breanna Burgess, a 26-year-old mother of three who was around 20 weeks pregnant with her fourth child, was found dead from multiple stab wounds in LaGrange on July 27, 2022, WAGA-TV reported.
Burgess’ unborn baby did not survive the attack.
Two people who knew the victim — Curteze Avery, 30, and Shallandra Freeman, 29 — were identified as suspects in the case, and investigators said they believe the pair targeted her.
Avery and Freeman were each charged with murder and feticide, according to WAGA-TV.
Police did not release a possible motive for the slaying.

On March 28, Avery pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve two life sentences for the murder of Burgess and her unborn child, WSB-TV reported.
Coweta Judicial Circuit DA John H. Cranford Jr. said about the case: "While the family of Ms. Burgess will never fully heal from this senseless crime, the District Attorney's Office is relieved to have obtained a life sentence without the family experiencing the difficulty and uncertainty of a jury trial."
The status of Freeman's case is unclear.
