Mother’s dead body found weighted down in pond, three suspects arrested
Three men are under arrest in connection to a mother of three who was murdered and her body weighted down and dumped in a pond.
According to police in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Tara Strozier, 40, was last seen and heard from in Cameron, Oklahoma, on July 17, and concerned family contacted authorities after they were unable to reach her.
Two days later, Strozier was listed as a missing person, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
On July 24, one week after she disappeared, Strozier’s black Volkswagon Jetta was located abandoned on a private drive in LeFlore County near Cameron.
Based on a joint investigation between the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe Strozier was tortured in an unoccupied mobile home and then murdered near a pond.
Authorities announced they identified and arrested three suspects in the case: Alex Nathaniel Davis, 30, Austin Johnson, 23, and Kaelin Hutchinson, 24.
“On July 29, 2021, Davis admitted to killing Strozier while Johnson was present," the bureau said. “After she was killed by the pond, they weighed her body down and threw her into the pond.”
The three men were booked into the LeFlore County Detention Center. Davis and Johnson both faces charges of first-degree murder. Davis was also charged with kidnapping.
Hutchinson is accused of obstruction of an officer.
