Mother Arrested For Murder Nearly Six Months After Her 20-Month-Old Son Died From Fentanyl Overdose: Police
The mother of a 20-month-old baby boy who overdosed on Fentanyl over the summer in Virginia is now behind bars, authorities said.
Tiffany Nicole Stokes, 37, turned herself in on Dec. 13 and she was charged with felony counts of homicide and child neglect in connection with the death of her infant, Potomac Local News reported.
Shortly after 3 a.m. on June 23, police in Gainesville responded to the report of an unresponsive baby, police said. The infant was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Stokes said she and her son were sleeping next to each other when she woke up and discovered he was unconscious.
In August, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Manassas determined the child died from ingesting a lethal amount of Fentanyl, according to police.
Stokes faces charges of felony homicide and child neglect, and possession of a scheduled I or II narcotic, WTTG reported.
