Georgia mother accused of killing her 1-year-old son claimed he was run over by a truck, police say
A Georgia mother is under arrest after she allegedly failed to seek medical care for her baby boy and he died on Christmas Day, authorities said.
According to Gwinnet County police, on Dec. 25, officers responded to an apartment in Norcross, Georgia, where they found the 1-year-old child dead.
Oluwadamilola Imafiabor, 29, allegedly claimed her son was run over by a truck the day before while he was playing outside.
“Initially, she stated the child appeared to be fine after the incident but died later during the night,” officials said.

An autopsy, however, showed the child’s injuries appeared to be inconsistent with Imafiabor’s claims about how her son was hurt.
On Jan. 2, police booked Imafiabor into the Gwinnett County jail on charges of murder and second-degree child cruelty.
“That just hurts my heart. A baby. That's so tragic, so sad,” the suspect's neighbor, Jazmyn Dzansi, told WAGA-TV. “Hopefully she's put away and can get some mental help because you have to be disturbed to do that to a baby."
