Texas mom beat her 11-year-old son to death with boyfriend, cops say

A Texas mother is accused of beating her 11-year-old son to death with her boyfriend. Now, the duo faces criminal charges.

One night, the couple beat him so badly he had seizures and died in a hotel room, according to allegations in court records, Times Record News reported.

The couple allegedly dumped Logan Cline’s body in an abandoned car where Wichita Falls, Texas, police found it on Feb. 27, 2020, according to Times Record News.

Stormy Loraine Johnson, 38, was booked Aug. 13 into Wichita County Jail on charges of murder and evidence tampering, according to online jail records obtained by Times Record News.

Johnson’s bail is recommended to be set at $1 million for the murder charge, according to Times Record News.

Corey Allen Trumbull, 33, was charged with capital murder of a person 10 to 14 years old in connection with the 11-year-old’s death, Times Record News reported.

Trumbull is serving time in the High Desert State Prison in Nevada for charges of domestic violence with a deadly weapon, lewdness with a minor and child abuse, according to Times Record News.

During the investigation into the Las Vegas domestic violence incident, police found evidence that led Wichita Falls police to find the child’s remains.

Police found a body covered in pieces of clothing in the backseat of a four-door Ford sedan, according to Times Record News. The remains were identified as Cline.

During an interview with police, Johnson told police she saw Trumbull beat the 11-year-old numerous times while they lived together. She didn’t report the beatings to the police or stop them, according to Times Record News.

The boy’s 15-year-old sister told detectives about the abuse her brother endured starting when the family started living with Trumbull, Times Record News reported.

The teen said Trumbull beat Cline daily, and on several occasions, Johnson joined him in beating the boy, according to Times Record News.

The 15-year-old told detectives that her brother was beaten for no reason and forced to sleep in a closet away from everyone else, Times Record News reported.

The girl also described sexual abuse committed against her and her brother. She added Johnson also participated in that abuse, according to Times Record News.

About two weeks before he died, Trumbull “stomped” on the boy’s head, she told the detective, Times Record News reported. After that, her brother was no longer himself, and he could not speak clearly, the teen told police, according to Times Record News.

During the beatings, Cline’s nose was broken more than once, he was cut, and his body was bruised from head to toe, and Johnson never took him for medical treatment, Times Record News reported.

On the night of Cline’s death, his sister said Trumbull and Johnson beat him repeatedly, according to Times Record News.

Cline began to have seizures, she said, and Trumbull tried to perform CPR when he couldn’t find a pulse. The girl said Trumbull then put the boy’s body into a bathtub while Johnson filled it with cold water, and Trumbull and Johnson put ice over his body, according to Times Record News. His body stayed there until they moved it.

Trumbull and Johnson allegedly have committed a string of additional crimes in Nevada, including possession of visual pornography of a person under 16, three charges of sexual assault against a child under 16, two charges of lewd act committed by a person over 18 with a child of 14 or 15 and child abuse or neglect.
