‘This Is A Horrific Tragedy’: Florida Authorities Investigate Suspected Double Murder-Suicide Of Slain Mother, Son
A Florida man who recently moved in with his girlfriend and her adult son is suspected of killing the pair and then turning the gun on himself, authorities said.
Osceola County sheriff deputies responding to a request for a wellbeing check at a St. Cloud residence in the Floridian Sandalwood RV community around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 found the three dead from an apparent double murder-suicide, WESH reported.
Osceola County Sheriff Marco Lopez said the suspected killer moved in with his girlfriend and her son over the summer.
“One of the [males], who we suspect to be the one who caused the death, is fairly new to the residence,” Lopez said.
The sheriff declined to identify the couple, who appeared to be in their late 30s or early 40s, and said they had no previous history of domestic violence, according to WESH.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the three causes of deaths, and the sheriff noted no gun was recovered from the crime scene.
“This is a horrific tragedy, here today, what we discovered,” Lopez said of the murder-suicide.
