Florida Plastic Surgeon Charged With Murder Of Missing Attorney
A plastic surgeon in the Tampa Bay area of Florida was due in court Monday on charges of murdering an attorney, perhaps based on a billing dispute, according to authorities.
Tomasz Kosowski, 44, was arrested during a traffic stop Saturday in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
The alleged victim, Steven Cozzi, has not been found. A statement from Largo Police Sunday said Cozzi was last seen last Tuesday in his office.
Detectives say they found “a significant amount of blood” in Cozzi's office restroom. The room had a “strong chemical odor” as well.
Cozzi, 41, left a wallet, cellphone, vehicle and car keys behind when he disappeared.
“A wonderful human being... has been stolen from us,” Cozzi's mother, Lois Cozzi, told WFLA-TV. “It is totally senseless.”

Authorities searched Kosowski's million-dollar home in Tarpon Springs over the last few days. His main surgical practice is across the state in Miami.
The Tampa Bay Times checked court records and found Kosowski had a legal dispute with several patients represented by Cozzi's law firm, but not Cozzi himself.

Kosowski filed suit in May 2019, claiming “fraudulent misrepresentation” in medical billing. WTVT reports he filed a request for final judgment last week. It was filed on the day Cozzi disappeared.
Officials said the search is still active and ongoing.
