A New Mexico man who has already pleaded guilty to murder headed to court April 10 for a different deadly crime.
Albuquerque police say Xavier Marquez, 22, shot and killed Daniel Bustos outside a Travelodge motel in June 2021.
KRQE-TV reports Marquez claimed Bustos fired at him first. But police determined 14 spent bullets found outside the motel all came from Marquez's gun.
According to KOB-TV, Marquez pleaded guilty in March in a different murder case. Shawn Lynch was shot in September 2021 while walking his service dog. The animal was wounded.
A judge has ruled Marquez must remain behind bars.
