Murder suspect captured in L.A. after his wife was found dead in her Illinois home, police say
A man is accused of killing his wife in Illinois and then fleeing across the country to California, authorities said.
On Jan. 4, officers responding to a call for a wellbeing check on Gloria Hopkins found the 26-year-old dead in her Carbondale home shortly before 8 p.m., The Southern Illinoisan reported.
According to homicide investigators, after Hopkins was the victim of an alleged domestic incident with her 29-year-old husband, Gregory Hopkins, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, he fled to the Los Angeles area.
L.A. police took Hopkins into custody on an arrest warrant on Jan. 6. He is expected to be extradited to Jackson County.
Hopkins faces charges of first-degree murder, and aggravated domestic battery.
