Murder suspect tried to sell victim's car — with her dead in the backseat, cops say
After killing his girlfriend, Nashville police say a 31-year-old man tried to sell her car — with her dead body in the back seat.
Pamela Paz, 44, was found dead in a small parking area of Pennington Bend Road near the Briley Parkway Overpass, according to Nashville Metro police. An autopsy determined that Paz had neck trauma and was possibly strangled.
Police spoke to Robert Miquel Johnson, Paz’ boyfriend, early in the investigation. He gave them an alibi, which proved false, according to police.
A witness said the day before Paz’s body was found, Johnson tried to sell her Dodge Charger with Paz dead in the backseat, police said.
Johnson was being held in a Wilson County, Tennessee jail on unrelated charges and will be taken to Nashville jail to face the criminal homicide count, police say.
Paz’ daughter created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help raise money for her mom’s funeral. She said her mom was very loved.
“My mom, Pamela Paz, was a wonderful light to this dark world,” the daughter wrote. “Thank you so much for all your condolences and for reaching out to our family. It has meant the whole world to all of us knowing how much of a support system she had.”
When the fundraiser hit its $10,000 goal, the daughter took time to thank the community for the support.
"The police are working so hard to find the person the took my mother's life and we WILL get justice for her,” she wrote.
