Natalee Holloway killer Joran van der Sloot was reportedly beaten by two inmates at a Peruvian prison where he is serving a 28-year murder sentence, according to sources.
According to the New York Post, the violent incident took place last week in Challapalca Prison’s common area.
Sources claim the two inmates reportedly jumped the 36-year-old van der Sloot and beat him up before prison guards stepped in and broke things up.
Van der Sloot was treated for cuts and bruises before being released back into the general prison population, The Post reported.
The news outlet talked with a spokesperson for the National Penitentiary Institute of Peru, who wouldn’t confirm the details of the attack. However, they did state that high-profile inmates like van der Sloot are viewed as vulnerable while incarcerated.
They added that van der Sloot would not be disciplined as he didn’t start the fight.
Despite the claims being made, van der Sloot’s attorney, Maximo Altez, denied there was an attack and told Fox News that “he’s fine.”
Altex said it was all “fake news,” noting that he had previously complained that prison officials had limited communication with his client.
Van der Sloot is currently serving a prison sentence for the murder of his ex-flame Stefany Flores Ramirez, whom he killed in 2010.
An NPI official told The Post, “A lot of people want him dead.”

His fellow inmates have said that he bullies others and starts arguments and fights. One inmate, Emile Quinones, said van der Sloot was “arrogant” and “just a total douchebag,” The Post reported.
“He walks around jail like he’s the boss,” said Quinones, per The Post. “Demands what he wants, treats other guys like s***. He made a lot of enemies because he’s such an a******.”
As Front Page Detectives previously reported, van der Sloot admitted in October 2023 to killing Holloway with a cinder block on an Aruba beach in 2005 as part of a plea deal in a case to extort Holloway’s mother for $250,000.
Van der Sloot is serving his sentence for the extortion and fraud case in Peru.
