GUNS ARE NOT TOYS: POLICE FIND REAL GUN MADE TO LOOK LIKE A HARMLESS FAKE
Not a toy.
Police got quite the surprise during a drug raid when they found a real gun, disguised to look like a NURF toy firearm.
On March 17, deputies from the Catawba (North Carolina) Sheriff’s Office, Hickory police department and Newton police used a search warrant to raid a home.
During the search, officers found cocaine, mushrooms and marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office. They also found $2,300 and 20 guns. The firearms included pistols, rifles and shotguns.
One of the weapons, a converted Glock model 19 pistol with a 50-round drum magazine, was altered to look like a NURF gun, police said.
“Firearms of this type, while not illegal to possess, are concerning to law enforcement,” the sheriff’s office stated in a release discussing the bust.
Police charged Damien Alonzo Burch, 35, in connection to the raid. He faces counts of possession of cocaine, possession of mushrooms and possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $20,000.
