A man has been arrested in connection to a deadly North Carolina shooting where a pregnant woman was also injured, according to report.
This week, police in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, announced the arrest of Michael Jerome Henry, 29.
Around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 27, officers responded to reports of gunshots on Pritchard Avenue Extension.
When officers arrived, they found Michael Deshai Lee, 51, with gunshot wounds, according to Chapel Hill police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people were shot and had non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. One of the victims was 32-weeks pregnant when she was shot, according to WNCN.
Investigators identified Henry as the suspect, but authorities did not release a motive in the shooting.
“Our officers and investigators have worked around the clock since this shooting occurred last week to bring some closure to Mr. Lee’s family and to reassure our concerned community. We are so appreciative for the many community members who have shared information about this case and to our partners with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force for their efforts to bring Mr. Henry to justice without delay or incident,” said Chief of Police Chris Blue.
Henry was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
