Man Hit Girlfriend With Mini-Sledgehammer Then Made Her Clean The Crime Scene Before She Could Leave, Police Say

A man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend with a mini-sledgehammer and holding her against her will, authorities said.
This week, police in Gastonia, North Carolina, arrested Robert Louis Singletary, 24, in connection to the assault of his 21-year-old girlfriend.
Around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 2, police responded to the hospital after the victim reported the incident.
The victim told officers she was at Singletary’s apartment, and he hit her in the back of the head with the sledgehammer, according to police.

The victim said she felt dizzy and disorientated and that she was bleeding profusely from her head, according to the report. She also said Singletary stated that she could not leave until she cleaned up all the evidence.
Police reported the victim complied and once she cleaned Singletary allowed her to leave.
Authorities then arrested Singletary on various charges including assault with intent to inflict serious injury. He is being held in jail on $250,000 bond.
