A 49-year-old woman was shot to death inside a home, and police say a man who was dating her daughter has been arrested.
Around 4 p.m. on Aug. 31, the Kannapolis Police Department responded to a home in Kannapolis, North Carolina, after multiple 911 calls came in regarding an assault in progress.
Once at the scene, officers found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound, authorities said.
That victim, Yulonda Basica Hollis, 49, died before she could be taken to the hospital, officials said.
An investigation was conducted and it determined Demontrel Deonta Murphy, 26, was the primary suspect in the shooting, WBTV reported.
Murphy was known to have a relationship with Hollis’ daughter, police said.
He was arrested and booked into the Cabarrus County Jail after being charged with first-degree murder, authorities said.
