Nebraska gymnastics coach arrested for two counts of child sexual assault, police say

A gymnastics coach in Nebraska has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child at a gymnastics club in Papillion, police said.
On Sept. 8, officials said 30-year-old Alexander Thomas was charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child.
According to authorities, the incidents occurred between January and February of this year with a child ages 14 or younger at Metro Stars Gymnastics.T homas worked at the facility.
Officials did not provide further details about the alleged assaults.
Thomas was booked into the Sarpa County Jail on Sept. 8 and charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault, a Class 3A felony, officials said.
In an email from Metro Star Gymnastics to their customers, they said, “As an organization that champions the safe and healthy growth and development of children, we couldn’t have harder news to report. At this time, we know nothing beyond the information available publicly,” KPVI reported.
The email also asked any parents or participants to report any concerns to the Sarpa County Sheriff’s Office, KPVI stated.
